Our results show that silencing of cyclin B1 gene expression induces apoptosis in OSCC/OSKCC cells by increasing Bax and caspase-3 but decreasing Bcl-2 and XIAP. In addition, silencing of cyclin B1 gene expression inhibits the growth of OSCC/OSKCC xenograft tumor in nude mice. Furthermore, our results also show that the dominant-negative mutant of cyclin B1, which inhibits the activity of cyclin B1, induces apoptosis in the transfected OSCC/OSKCC cells.
