Editing with Photoshop
The simplest way to edit an image is to double-click its thumbnail in the Layers palette (refer to Figure 5-1) to open it in Photoshop. Photoshop displays the image in the default _working copy_ mode, which is 2-up, as shown in Figure 5-2. If you’re working from a scanned image, the preview isn’t clear.

To view the image in full resolution, choose View⇒Canvas Size⇒Display All Open Windows, or press the Ctrl+0 key combination (or the +0 key combination on a Mac). Figure 5-3 shows the full-size image opened in the upper-left window. You also see the image in the lower-left window that’s scaled to a smaller size. The image in the upper-right window has had many layers added, and the image in the lower-right window has had only a few added.

The original image may be too small to view well in a window (see Figure 5-3), but you can change the size of the image using the View command. The steps for cropping an image are covered in the section „Cropping,“ later in this chapter.
You also can import images into Photoshop as a background from one of many sources — most common are
**Images:** If you have a file with an image on your computer that you want to use as your background, you can usually import this file into Photoshop without a problem.

Adobe Photoshop is an advanced software for designing, editing, retouching and outputting of digital images. The software can also enhance your camera image files. It provides various features like, converting image formats, using built-in filters, cutting images, cropping, rotating and adjusting brightness, resizing, scaling and developing images.
When you load a file in Photoshop, it is converted into a format compatible with the software (source file). If you want to import a photo, you need to have a compatible image format (for example, jpg). Photoshop allows the use of a number of different image formats:
Raw (also called flat or unedited)
JPEG, a compressed file format
TIFF, a file format used to store pixel data
PSD, a vector graphics format
PNG, a lossless compressed file format
The above formats work well with Photoshop, as they can be edited in the software and then output. For example, RGB (red, green and blue) files can be easily converted into the JPG format and then saved back as a JPG file. Also, the PNG format can be easily manipulated in Photoshop. Many other formats can be used, but you should use a format compatible with the software.
History of Photoshop
Adobe Photoshop was originally designed for Apple computers. It was first developed for the Mac OS in 1987.
The initial release of the software was named „Adobe Photoshop“. It was later renamed to Photoshop in 1989 and became the most popular and best-selling software for digital imaging.
The first version was a black-and-white program with a resolution of 300 pixels per inch (ppi) and a 15-minute installation time.
In 1990, the first color version of Photoshop was released.
The following year, Photoshop became a complete package (PhotoShop Deluxe). Its user interface was designed to be similar to that of the Macintosh, as the program had been created for Mac OS.
In 1992, Photoshop became available as a shareware program (PhotoShop 95). In order to use the program, you needed a copy of the manual.

The cruise is part of the Coastal Assessment in the Nation’s Estuaries (CANES) Program. It’s the first year for the Delmarva project with NOAA, which started in 2017. It’s an effort that will once again involve the largest state-federal partnership for marine ecosystem science to begin in the Atlantic Ocean. This year, however, it’s actually a partnership between NOAA, the Maryland Natural Resources and Environmental Trust, the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries, the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control, and the Maryland Department of Natural Resources.

In this case, boats like Peek and crew are testing a new coronavirus test that has only been available in a „lab setting,“ according to Peek.
The clinical lab that ran the test will be replicated in this Delaware Bay, and at NOAA’s field laboratory in Maryland, if the test is developed.
„So we are the first to test it in an estuary system,“ Peek said. „In the estuary, we are actually gonna have an environmental sampler (go out and] collect water, air, muck, plants and animals, all as you would in the lab, and then we will compare that to the sample from our own lab.“
This is the first year for this research.

To assess current practice of nutrition care for adults with learning disabilities (LD) in the community and identify barriers that hinder provision of adequate care. Qualitative methods were used to evaluate barriers to current nutrition care provision for this population. Data were collected from hospital and community dietitians who were reported to be in direct contact with this population (n = 7). Each dietitian provided information on resources available to assist the dietitian in providing care. This was followed by semi-structured interviews with the dietitians. Themes were assigned to each interview. Emergent themes were organised into conceptual frameworks to examine patterns in barriers.
